Our lovely Lea is taking a couple of months off work to prepare for the birth of her baby girl! We’re really going to miss her but we’re looking forward to her coming back. In her absence, we will be working with the amazingly talented Katie McGuire, who we worked with last year at a fun fundraiser for The Alzheimer’s Society. Our first outing with Katie is this Saturday night at the iconic Duke of Edinburgh hotel on Abbey Road in Barrow-in-Furness. We’d love to see you there!!

Heart and Soul have just completed 5 extremely successful party nights in Fell Foot park with Bridge Catering Ltd from nearby Greenodd! These were no ordinary nights, taking place in twinkling teepees with log fires and beautiful decorations! We loved playing to their customers who were all keen to dance the night away with us. Amazing food, amazing surroundings, amazing guests and amazing hosts! Can’t wait for next year!! Heart and Soul were invited to share in another special day – the wedding of Bernadette and Andre! Clarence House was a class act and was resplendent in its Christmas decorations, only outdone by the beautiful bride herself! The music went down a storm with the guests and Bernadette was kind enough to leave us some marvellous feedback in our guestbook!! Heart and Soul were thrilled to be asked to play an upbeat, hour long set for long standing friends of the band, Rebecca and Carl. Following a stunning wedding in Portugal, Rebecca and Carl chose to celebrate with all their friends at the amazing “Nines” venue in Barrow-in-Furness. Guests boogied away and helped celebrate the couple’s nuptials in style! Thank you to them both for allowing us to be a part of their special day xxx

Heart and Soul were priveleged to have headlined an amazing fundraising event with the local Furness Firecrackers Roller Derby League. Together with the girls, The Devotion and Katie McGuire we helped raise nearly £500 for the team and The Alzheimer’s Society. A great night was had by all and we debuted our amazing video disco, which went down a storm! The 1980s fancy dress was inspired and some of the outfits would have made Madonna proud! We’d like to formally thank our Sound Engineer, Gary Stewart for all his hard work. Without his endless commitment to the band we would never be able to have made the technological advances we’ve made recently. Thanks also go to Dave Duffin, Steve Porritt, Katie and Mike McGuire, the lovely Lea, Darren and Dbasser, Jeff and Kier – let’s do it again sometime!!!

“The ambient chatter level throughout the pub was quite high, but Heart and Soul managed to cut through it to present their live show. The popular local soul and pop covers band have been on the circuit for a number of years now, and have settled down into a firm line-up that works well.
Band leader Alan Simpson provides supersonic guitar work and backing vocals, with able support from the rhythm section of Diane Jones (bass guitar/backing vocals) and Darren Snow (drums). The icing on the cake is lead vocalist Leah Simone, who breezes through the set delivering powerful vocals and communicating well with the audience.”

Heart and Soul played their first gig in Barrow’s Greene King pub, The Strawberry last night! Infamous from our youth, it was great to return and play in the venue that shaped our younger years!! We were made to feel extremely welcome by Diane and the Strawberry staff and can’t wait for a repeat performance on Sunday September 11th…. The crowd there were fantastic – dancing their socks off! What a great new venue for Live Music!! Long Summer nights are perfect for Strawberries and mixed with the cream of the crop (us!!), who could ask for more … ;o)

Heart and Soul are teaming up with local sports team, “Furness Firecrackers – Roller Derby League” and some of Barrow’s best entertainers to raise some money for The Alzheimer’s Society and the Rollergirls’ club. Roller Derby is the world’s fastest growing sport of the moment and their team is fast approaching it
s first bout. This fast and furious, full-contact sport is exciting and gripping and sure to have you on the edge of your seats. Sadly, a number of the team have been personally affected by the devastating effects of Alzheimer’s and they hope to raise as much money as possible to ensure that other people’s families do not suffer in the same way as their own. Heart and Soul will be headlining with local super duo, Dave Duffin and The Devotion (with locally acclaimed musician, Steve Porritt) and our very own Leah Simone will be providing some solo hits. A 1980s inspired disco will ensure the evening ends on a high. There will also be raffle prizes galore!! Final details are yet to be confirmed, but it will take place from 7.30 on August 27th at Hawcoat Lane Sports and Social Club and will cost just £5. Come and Join us for a feel good night sure to cheer your Heart and Soul …
